Reception Music

(Source: unknown)

Today, I bring you our music selections for the reception. A long time ago, I posted the songs we'll have playing throughout the reception. But today I bring you the songs we will have playing during the "special moments" of the reception.

Our Introduction - "Happy Together" by The Turtles
First Dance - "I Could Have Danced All Night" by Yo-Yo Ma*
Cake Cutting - "How Sweet It Is" by Michael Buble
Bouquet Toss - "Chapel of Love" by The Dixie Chicks**
Garter Removal and Toss - "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen***

*I've blogged before about us not having a first dance. But the more I've thought about it, the more I've wanted to do it. It's a once in a lifetime thing and even though we don't know how to dance, we're going to. I admit, this will only mean we will be swaying from side to side while going in circles, but it's "dancing" none the less. I picked a slow and short song so that it doesn't seem like we are out there for ages. haha

**I have loved this song since I was a little girl and have many fond memories of singing along to it when it was played on the radio.

***We really wanted something fun and lighthearted for this. So much of the time raunchy stripper music is played for the removal and toss and that's just not our style! When we came across this song, we just had to use it! We both love Queen and the lyrics are just too funny considering what the Mr. will be doing when it's played!

What are you having played for these moments during the reception?

Stay tuned for a special announcement coming your way on the 17th! You won't want to miss this!!!

  1. Our ceremony music is going to be:
Bridesmaids - Ben Harper's "Forever" When I Bride- Frank Sinatra "Fools Rush In", I coach cheerleading and one of my girls is going to play her flute along with the instrumental :)
Announcing Mr. and Mrs. - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

Reception intro's - Black Eyed Peas "Tonight's Gonna Be a Goodnight"
First Dance - David Grey "This Year's Love"
Cake Cutting - Adam Sandler "I wanna Grow Old With You"
Last Song - Taylor Swift "Today Was a Fairytale"

I still have a few to figure out for the garder/bouquet toss. Instead of doing a father/daughter dance I've decided that my sisters and I are going to do a dance to "Move This" by Technotronic...when we where little we had a dance to it and we'd wear my mom out showing her so I thought it would be different and fun!

  2. I got married last May, and we dreaded picking out our music because there are tooo many choices!! When we actually sat down to decide what our "special songs" were going to be, we ended up having so much fun...and our music selection ended up being good choices!!

    Bridal Party Introduction Song:
    Michael Buble-Feeling Good

    1st Dance:
At Last-Etta James (Cliche, I know...but sooo true for us!)

During Dinner, we had Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra music going on in the background

    Cutting the cake:
How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)

    Father-Daughter Dance:
    Daddy's Little Girl-Michael Buble

    Mother-Groom Dance:
    Unforgettable-Frank Sinatra

    Tossing the bouquet:
    Single Ladies-Beyonce

    Removing the Garter:
    Mission Impossible Theme(everyone LOVED this!)

    Tossing the Garter:
    Sexy Back-Justin Timberlake

    Last Dance:
    Beautiful Day-U2

    Last Song:
    Happy Trails

  3. If I were to be bride I will also look forward to me and my hubby's first dance! You must be excited! I hope you'll enjoy it ! And congratulations on the songs! They're nice and perfect for weddings! Cogratulations and best wishes.
