Reception Music

(Source: unknown)

Today, I bring you our music selections for the reception. A long time ago, I posted the songs we'll have playing throughout the reception. But today I bring you the songs we will have playing during the "special moments" of the reception.

Our Introduction - "Happy Together" by The Turtles
First Dance - "I Could Have Danced All Night" by Yo-Yo Ma*
Cake Cutting - "How Sweet It Is" by Michael Buble
Bouquet Toss - "Chapel of Love" by The Dixie Chicks**
Garter Removal and Toss - "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen***

*I've blogged before about us not having a first dance. But the more I've thought about it, the more I've wanted to do it. It's a once in a lifetime thing and even though we don't know how to dance, we're going to. I admit, this will only mean we will be swaying from side to side while going in circles, but it's "dancing" none the less. I picked a slow and short song so that it doesn't seem like we are out there for ages. haha

**I have loved this song since I was a little girl and have many fond memories of singing along to it when it was played on the radio.

***We really wanted something fun and lighthearted for this. So much of the time raunchy stripper music is played for the removal and toss and that's just not our style! When we came across this song, we just had to use it! We both love Queen and the lyrics are just too funny considering what the Mr. will be doing when it's played!

What are you having played for these moments during the reception?

Stay tuned for a special announcement coming your way on the 17th! You won't want to miss this!!!

My Blog Saved Me!

Today while I was working on the music playlist for the reception....I accidentally deleted it!!! I was trying to delete one song from it and somehow managed to get rid of the whole list! The worst part....it couldn't be undone! I was about to panic and burst into tears. When I suddenly remembered that I had posted about our music selection a long while back. But I couldn't remember if I had listed each song or not. I went to look....and by the Grace of God, I had blogged a list including each song!! I was so thankful and this saved me hours of work! I was able to recreate our list pretty fast. If I hadn't blogged each song, I would have had to rely on my memory to rebuild the list that was over 60 songs long.

The only down side....the over three hours that I spent editing the stopping point for each song today has been lost. I was almost done with that task when the list got deleted. But I'm so thankful that I was able to rebuild the list without any problems thanks to my blog post!

Reception Tunes

Whew! I had one heck of a time finding what I consider true love songs. I searched for hours (no joke!) for songs. It seems that most "love" songs are about breakups and failed relationships....not really stuff you want played at your wedding! Not to mention that I'm a HUGE music lover...of all kids....except for 99.9% of Country Music. That being said, it makes the search even harder.

iTunes is a lifesaver, I really couldn't have come up with what I have now without it. I purchased maybe 40 songs that are on our list, the others I already had in my music collection. I was hoping to get around 4 hours of play time to be on the safe side and as of right now, the list is 3.9 hours of play time. That's close enough for me! Plus, we still might add a few more here and there.

I also had a really hard time finding a good mix of older songs and newer songs (released in our lifetime) that people from our generation will be able to connect with. I know you can't please everyone but I think our list comes pretty close to it. I also tried to get different versions of very popular songs that most people will not have heard before. I also incorporated some music from some of our favorite Christian Music Artists. You'll also see some Country music on the list. The FI is a Country Music fan...I however, am not. But it's OUR wedding, not my wedding so I've thrown in a few for him and he's selected several that I really do love. Shh...don't tell though. ;)
